DR Congo, on the other hand, edged Cameroon 1-0, thanks to a late goal from captain Chancel Mbemba in stoppage time. This victory marked a dramatic turnaround for DR Congo, who will now look to upset Nigeria and secure their place in the intercontinental playoffs
The winner of this match will advance to the six-team intercontinental playoff in Mexico in March 2026, competing for one of the last two spots in the World Cup. Nigeria is seeking its seventh World Cup appearance, while DR Congo aims to return to the global stage for the first time since 1974 .
