“Nigeria’s Shame: Innocent Man Sold for Execution, Escapes Death by Chance”
A harrowing testimony has emerged from Mr. Chika Austine, whose father, a humble mortuary attendant in Anambra State, was allegedly marked for execution by officers of the notorious Tiger Base in Owerri, Imo State. The plot, which was set in motion after his father was sold to the officers for โฆ200,000, was designed to eliminate him without any trace.
According to Austine, the ordeal began with false accusations of witchcraft, which were used to lure his father to Mgbidi Junction, where he was abducted by plain-clothes operatives and taken to Tiger Base. Fortunately, his father had insisted that a cousin follow him, and this decision ultimately led to the exposure of the plot and his survival.
Austine recounted that his father was subjected to seven days of torture, beatings, starvation, and extortion, with demands for โฆ1 million in bail, to be paid in cash, followed by additional “settlements” to officers and other officials.
Describing Tiger Base as a place where human life holds no value, Austine alleged that his father witnessed multiple deaths during his detention, including detainees suffocating in overcrowded cells and gunshots being fired in the early morning hours as bodies were removed.
The allegations have sparked widespread outrage in Nigeria, with calls for an immediate investigation, closure of the facility, and prosecution of those responsible. Austine’s father is willing to testify before any official panel or judicial body, and his testimony has raised concerns about the number of innocent Nigerians who may have disappeared within the walls of the controversial compound.
The incident has left many wondering how many more families are still waiting for answers they may never receive, and has highlighted the need for urgent action to address the issue of human rights abuses in Nigeria.
