The Nigeria Union of Journalists [NUJ] FCT Council has partnered with Adobe Express and Lifestyle Hues to train 100 journalists in Abuja on digital content creation and multimedia storytelling.
The one-day capacity training was held on Monday for journalists drawn from public and private media organisations in the capital.
Declaring the session open, NUJ FCT Council Chairman Comrade Grace Ike said the council is committed to equipping media practitioners through continuous learning, innovation, and exposure to global best practices.
โI believe this training is one of many steps we are taking to ensure that our members remain competitive, relevant, and impactful,โ Ike said. โThe way we present information has evolved, and the way we present information must also adapt. This is why trainings like these are not just necessary but essential.โ
She noted that designing visuals, editing multimedia content, and presenting stories in engaging formats are now core parts of journalism. โTools like Adobe Express are critical instruments for effective communication in the digital age,โ she added.
Ike urged participants to be attentive, ask questions, and apply the knowledge gained in their newsrooms and platforms. She also thanked Lifestyle Hues and the Adobe Express team for their partnership.
Training facilitator Mrs. Ayodotun Akinfenwa of Lifestyle Hues said the session was aimed at helping journalists create designs, announcements, presentations, and content more independently.
โJournalists need to understand how to create designs, announcements, how to create presentations and content in the line of their work. Tools like this help them to be independent and enhance their productivity,โ Akinfenwa said.
A brand marketing consultant and Adobe Partner and Ambassador, Akinfenwa explained that Adobe Express can boost productivity for journalists, content creators, and business owners. She stressed that journalists who do not show up online risk missing opportunities, even if they have more experience.
โThings like this will facilitate communication. They will make it very easy for journalists and writers to churn out content quickly so that people can easily digest it,โ she said.
Akinfenwa called on media owners in both the public and private sectors to invest in training their staff on modern communication and AI tools.
Participants described the exercise as a welcome development and called for more training and retraining opportunities for members.
