China has reaffirmed its support for Nigeria’s fight against terrorism, with Ambassador Yu Dunhai pledging continued assistance in combating insurgency and maintaining stability. However, China has also warned against external interference in Nigeria’s internal affairs, rejecting the use of religion or human rights as grounds for pressure or military threats.
Dunhai’s statement follows a meeting with National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and comes amid escalating tensions between Nigeria and the US, after former President Donald Trump threatened military action over allegations of Christian persecution.
The Nigerian government has denied these claims, seeking diplomatic resolution. China’s stance signals strong backing for Nigeria’s sovereignty and development path
