Stanley Amandi, a renowned Nollywood filmmaker and actor, has been arrested alongside several military officers accused of plotting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Amandi, former chairperson of the Enugu State chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, was arrested in September 2025 for allegedly serving as a propagandist for the coup plotters
The alleged coup plot involved the assassination of top government officials, including President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas. The Defence Headquarters has confirmed the plot and stated that investigations have been concluded, with the indicted officers to be arraigned before military judicial panels
