The head coach of Nigeria’s senior national team, Eric Chelle, has submitted a list of invited players to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the upcoming four-team invitational tournament in Turkey. The tournament, initially scheduled to take place in Jordan, has been relocated due to the Middle East uprising.
Nigeria will face Iran on March 27, followed by a match against Jordan on March 31. The tournament will also feature Costa Rica, with the final round of games concluding on March 31.
Sources close to the coach and NFF reveal that Chelle’s list includes three major surprises, which will be made public within the next 48 hours. “It’s the second phase of Chelle’s game project, and some surprise names were included,” a close associate said. “Young players who are doing very well and will likely be the future of the team.”
The tournament is expected to be a crucial step for Nigeria’s preparations, having finished third at the AFCON in January.
