The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, has cracked an eight-month-old missing-person case with the arrest of 35-year-old Chukwudalu Ezeani over the murder of his cousin, Chinedu Ezeani, 52.
Preliminary findings show that on 1 August 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., the suspect allegedly killed the deceased at his residence in Afube Village, Amichi, buried the body in a shallow grave within his compound, and concealed the crime for roughly eight months.
Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga said the case was first lodged as a missing-person report at the Amichi Division but was revisited after credible intelligence led detectives to the suspect.
During interrogation, Ezeani confessed and took operatives to the burial site in his compound, where the corpse was exhumed. The remains have been deposited for forensic examination, and the suspect will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations.
The Anambra State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to justice and urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest station.
