Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo continues to extend his record as professional footballโs all-time leading goalscorer and is now closing in on an extraordinary 1,000 career goals.
At 41, the forward has scored 968 official goals, leaving him just 32 short of the four-figure mark โ a feat no player has achieved in the modern era.
Ronaldo has often said he wants to reach the milestone before retiring, as long as he stays fit and injury-free. Based on his current form, many fans and analysts believe the target is well within reach.
He remains central to Al Nassr and scored again in their 2โ0 Saudi Pro League win over Al-Akhdoud. Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a composed finish, lifting his league tally to 24 goals this season. The goal also left him three behind the leagueโs top scorer, Ivan Toney.
Teammate Joรฃo Fรฉlix doubled the lead early in the second half, finishing from close range after a rebound.
The victory set a new club record of 14 straight league wins for Al Nassr. They now top the table with 73 points from 28 matches, five points clear of rivals Al-Hilal with six games remaining.
With Ronaldo still scoring regularly and chasing history, fans worldwide will be watching closely to see when and where he reaches the 1,000-goal mark
