AWKA — The Anambra State Police Command has intensified its campaign against cultism, violent crimes and other social vices through the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, POCACOV, with a statewide push to engage young people.

On Tuesday, July 8, 2026, the Command featured in a radio programme that brought together traditional rulers, youth leaders, community representatives and members of the public to discuss crime prevention and values reorientation.

The interactive session focused on the dangers of cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime and other deviant behaviours. Speakers stressed the need for collective responsibility in building a safer society, while callers suggested practical ways to strengthen community partnerships, mentor youths, and promote lawful living.

The Command said the radio engagement is the first in a series of youth-focused activities planned under POCACOV across Anambra. The goal, it noted, is to raise public awareness, steer young people away from crime, and promote peace, discipline and responsible citizenship.

It also announced plans to host the National Coordinator of POCACOV from Force Headquarters, Abuja, before the end of July 2026. The visit will flag off a broader schedule of activities, including programmes during the August school break, advocacy sessions with students, engagements with women during their August meetings, and other community outreach efforts aimed at instilling positive values.

The Anambra Police Command called on parents, teachers, traditional and religious leaders, youth groups and community stakeholders to support the initiative by encouraging youths to shun cultism and other vices, and to become agents of peace and development in their communities.
