Eduardo Camavinga has made his stance clear on a summer exit from Real Madrid amid links to Manchester United and Liverpool, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Real Madrid are reshaping their midfield under returning boss Jose Mourinho. Los Blancos have already added Bernardo Silva on a free from Manchester City, while Dani Ceballos has left after his contract expired.

Mourinho is reportedly pushing for more Premier League-level midfielders, with Enzo Fernandez and Rodri named among the options on Madrid’s list.

To create space for another signing, Madrid may need to offload one of Camavinga or Aurelien Tchouameni. Reports suggest Tchouameni is set to extend his deal at the Bernabeu, which sparked talk that Camavinga could be sold for around €50m, about £42m.

United and Liverpool were both credited with interest in the France international back on May 15, with sources saying Camavinga would consider a move abroad. But Romano now says the 21-year-old’s priority is to remain in Spain.

Speaking on YouTube, Romano explained:
“Let me clarify something on Camavinga. Manchester United have not started an official negotiation for Camavinga. Before starting any club-to-club negotiation with Real Madrid, the point is what the player wants to do.
The understanding is that Camavinga still wants to fight for his place at Real Madrid. Camavinga wants to be a Real Madrid player.
So unless Man Utd are able to get the green light from Camavinga, it’s pointless to go to Real Madrid and start the negotiation.”

United have already been busy in midfield this window, bringing in Andrey Santos from Chelsea for £50m and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa for £35m. Romano added on Wednesday that United still want a third addition.

“Man Utd want to sign a new midfielder. They want to go for a defensive midfielder, a player who can run, a player who can bring fresh legs in midfield,” he said.
“I told you in the last video that Man Utd have reached out for Manu Kone, the French midfielder from Roma. They spoke only on the player side at the moment, not with Roma yet.
Another option mentioned internally in the meetings has been Eduardo Camavinga. So, Camavinga, Manu Kone, defensive midfielder who can run, who can help with intensity, also physical. So this is what Man Utd are looking for.
Camavinga doesn’t want to leave Real Madrid this summer. Camavinga wants to stay, Camavinga wants to be an important part of Real Madrid project next season. The Camavinga story could only be possible if the player decides to go. So this is why the deal for Camavinga is complicated.”[a][the]

Meanwhile, United are also said to be weighing up a £40m bid for a Fulham player.
