Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has recorded what may be his most significant recruitment win since taking charge, with teenage forward George Ilenikhena set to represent Nigeria at senior level.
http://hardtalkinternationalmagazine.com can exclusively report that Chelle has successfully persuaded the 19-year-old to commit to the Super Eagles after nearly a year of persuasion.
Born in Nigeria but raised in France from a young age, Ilenikhena initially turned down approaches to play for Nigeria. The striker has now reversed his decision and is ready to wear the green and white.
A major advantage for Nigeria is that Ilenikhena has not featured competitively for France at any level, so no nationality switch is required from FIFA.
Chelle has been actively targeting dual-national talents, with a particular focus on strengthening Nigeriaโs attack to provide competition and cover for Victor Osimhen. The arrival of Ilenikhena is expected to add pace and depth to that department.
The Monaco forward is tipped to be included in Nigeriaโs squad for the 2026 AFCON qualifiers in September against Tanzania, marking his potential debut for the three-time African championss
