Flying Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubairu has set his sights on Nigeria’s second Group B match at the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship against Togo’s Sparrow Hawks.

The defending champions began their title defence on a strong note, edging rivals Ghana’s Black Satellites 4-2 on Monday.
Muiz Adeleke scored twice, while Olayemi Ayinla and Oraro Isaac also found the net for Nigeria.

With three points already secured, Maikaba’s team will be aiming to book a semi-final spot when they take on Togo on Thursday.

Togo come into the game on the back of a 3-1 defeat to Burkina Faso in their opener.

Despite the promising start, the gaffer says the team won’t get complacent against the Sparrow Hawks.

“We’re done with the first game. The next one is just as important because Togo are no pushovers,” Maikaba said.
“It’s also a rivalry match between Nigeria and Togo. We have to stay focused, prepare properly, and go for the second win that will take us to the semi-finals.”
