The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has established a 7-person National Reconciliation Committee to resolve internal disputes following its recent party primaries and to unify members ahead of the next elections.
Political economist Professor Pat Utomi will head the committee. The announcement was made in a statement released on Wednesday and signed by NDC National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses, and National Secretary, Mr. Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu.
According to the party, the panel will meet with aspirants nationwide to address grievances that emerged from the primary elections.
Veteran politician Engineer Buba Galadima has been named co-chairman. Other principal officers include Mohammed Sanni Takori as vice chairman and Babatunde Alli as secretary. The remaining members are Mrs. Dudu Mamman Manuga, Hon. Salvador Adegoke Moshood, and Alhaji Haruna Pai.
To support the process, the NDC also created three zonal sub-committees that will handle reconciliation in the North, South-South, and South-East regions.
The party stated that the National Reconciliation Committee will be inaugurated at 12:00 PM on Thursday, August 6, at the NDC national secretariat. A complete list of members for both the national committee and the zonal panels is expected to be made public during the inauguration.
