Manchester – Manchester United interim boss Michael Carrick has explained why he withdrew Marcus Rashford during Sunday’s 2-2 Premier League stalemate against Everton at Old Trafford.
The England international was taken off in the 70th minute despite putting in an energetic performance.
Speaking after the game, Carrick said Rashford had started to feel discomfort in the second half.
“Yeah, he was feeling a bit of something,” Carrick stated.
“He’s done very well. Like I mentioned during the week, he’s been excellent since returning. I thought he looked really sharp again today and caused problems.
“That final bit didn’t quite fall for him, but he still created some very good chances and was a constant threat throughout.”
Rashford has looked lively since coming back into the side, and United will be hoping the issue is nothing serious ahead of their next fixtures.
