Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has been declared winner of the Osun State governorship election.
According to results announced by INEC, Adeleke polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the APC, who scored 444,815 votes. Candidate of the ADC, Najeem Salaam, finished third with 17,180 votes.
The final tally gave Adeleke a victory margin of 66,252 votes over Oyebamiji.
INEC said 2,339,544 voters were registered for the election, while 1,010,684 were accredited. A total of 1,005,800 votes were cast. Of that number, 985,079 votes were valid and 20,721 were rejected.
The declaration came after collation was completed across the state’s 30 local government areas. With the outcome, Adeleke secures another term in office following what was described as a keenly contested race.
The results also reflected the pattern seen during collation, with Adeleke leading Oyebamiji in several LGAs.
