The Anambra State Police Command says public vigilance led to the arrest of four suspects linked to two separate violent crimes in the state.
Police confirmed the arrests follow disturbing cases that surfaced on social media: the exhumation of a womanโs body in Nkpor, and a 10-year-old boy found with severe injuries in Isiowulu.
Case 1 – Alleged Murder
33-year-old Ifechukwu Okechukwu is in custody for allegedly murdering his 23-year-old girlfriend and secretly burying her. The case was reported by concerned residents, prompting operatives from the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over and begin detailed investigations.
Case 2 – Child Abuse
Three suspects are detained over the alleged abuse of a 10-year-old boy at Odume Layout, Isiowulu. They are Chukwudi Chukwuyere, 40; Chisom Chukwuyere, 30; and Arum Goodluck, 16. During interrogation, Mrs. Chisom reportedly confessed to using burning plastic to inflict burns on the child. The victim is receiving medical care while police gather evidence for prosecution.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, commended residents for timely information and reaffirmed the Commandโs commitment to protecting lives and ensuring offenders face justice.
He urged the public to keep reporting suspicious activities through the Commandโs emergency lines or the nearest police station.
