Darazo, Bauchi State – June 5 2026 – At least 7 people have been confirmed dead after a violent clash between farmers and herders in Lanzai and Dosho communities of Darazo LGA.
Bauchi Police Command said trouble started when suspected herders allegedly attacked farmers working on farmland near Lanzai. The attack triggered a reprisal by angry youths, who stormed Dosho, a settlement mostly inhabited by Fulani herders, and set parts of it on fire.
According to Police PRO SP Nafiu Habib, about 50 huts were razed along with household belongings. Seven people died in the violence, while 6 others were injured and are now receiving treatment. Several homes and personal properties were also destroyed.
To stop further escalation, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu has deployed tactical teams and the Violent Crime Response Unit to Lanzai, Dosho, and surrounding areas. Patrols have been intensified across the communities.
The Commissioner ordered a full investigation into both the initial attack and the reprisal, promising that all those responsible will be arrested and prosecuted.
“The Command will not allow anyone to take the law into their hands. Justice will be served,” CP Aliyu assured residents
