The Nigeria Police Force has announced a series of arrests and recoveries across several states in the last 24 hours as part of its nationwide operation against crime.
Force Headquarters disclosed the updates on Sunday, highlighting cases ranging from violent crimes to illegal arms possession and vandalism.
BENUE: WOMAN ARRESTED OVER ALLEGED KILLING OF STEPDAUGHTER
Operatives of the Benue State Police Command have arrested Nancy Sunday over the alleged death of her one-month-old stepdaughter.
According to the Command, the incident occurred while the childโs biological mother, Miracle Sunday, was away in Anambra State. Police said the suspect allegedly struck the infantโs head, leading to her death.
The babyโs body has been deposited at the Teaching Hospital Morgue in Aliade for autopsy. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Makurdi for further investigation.
LAGOS: MAN HELD FOR ALLEGED MURDER OF 19-YEAR-OLD
In Lagos, Damilare Oladuni Orija has been taken into custody for allegedly killing a 19-year-old identified as Jide.
Police reports indicate the suspect used scissors to inflict fatal injuries on the victim at Agboyi 1, Alapere-Ketu area of the state.
The deceasedโs body has been moved to a public morgue for preservation and autopsy as investigations continue.
IMO: ALLEGED TERROR CELL BUSTED, CULT MEMBERS PICKED UP
A major operation by @PoliceNG VCRU operatives in Eziudo, Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA led to the arrest of four armed suspects linked to an alleged terrorist network.
Items recovered include three pump-action guns, 30 live cartridges, Biafra flags, military and police uniforms, recruitment documents, charms, and photos of alleged leaders. The suspects reportedly confessed to ongoing recruitment and involvement in multiple attacks in Imo State.
In a separate operation at Bishopโs Court, Owerri, Opara Ikechi, 23, and four others were arrested over suspected cult activities. Police recovered locally-made pistols, live ammunition, a dagger, and an alleged confraternity scarf.
Four firearms and 31 rounds of ammunition were recovered in total. The SCID in Owerri is handling the case.
EBONYI: ROBBERY SUSPECT CAUGHT WITH GUNSHOT INJURIES
Ezekiel Francis Akam, 22, was arrested in Oriuzor, Ezza North LGA following a tip-off from local vigilantes.
He is linked to a December 2025 armed robbery case. Police said he tried to escape but was caught with suspected cartridge wounds on his left leg.
A battle axe was also recovered from the premises. The suspect is receiving treatment at FETHA 2 while the SCID Abakaliki investigates.
AKWA IBOM: ILLEGAL GUN SEIZED IN IKOT OBONG OTOR
Divine Effiong Udo, 33, was arrested in Ikot Obong Otor village after police responded to reports of gunshots.
Recovered from him were one single-barrel gun and two expended cartridges. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the suspected gang. SCID Uyo is leading the probe.
FCT: ABANDONED CAR RECOVERED, RAILWAY VANDALS NABBED
In Abuja, police recovered an abandoned ash-colored Peugeot 406 with registration GWA 124 GP from the basement of 21st Mall, Gwarinpa. The vehicle had been unclaimed for 15 days and is in police custody pending owner identification.
Also in the FCT, Ikoh Precious, 26, and Fabian Agaar, 30, of Angwan Rogo were arrested for alleged vandalism of railway infrastructure. Police said the duo ignored community warnings, caused an oncoming train to make an emergency stop, and incited a crowd. The CID FCT is investigating
