Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle says he’s excited to work with Femi Azeez after the Millwall winger pledged his international future to the Super Eagles.
Born in England to Nigerian parents, the 24-year-old opted to represent Nigeria rather than wait for an England call-up, following a standout season in the Championship. Azeez earned a place in the league’s official Team of the Season and narrowly missed out on Player of the Year. His Millwall side also fell in the playoff semi-final to Hull City on Monday.
With his decision finalized, Azeez is now eligible for Nigeria’s upcoming Unity Cup friendlies, and Chelle is eager to integrate him into the squad.
The coach believes the winger’s style mirrors that of Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise, particularly in one-on-one situations on the flank and his ability to beat defenders.
