Enugu, June 22, 2026 โ Women in Elugwu Akwu community, Oji Local Government Area of Enugu State, staged a protest on Tuesday against commercial sex workers operating in their area.
The demonstrators accused the sex workers of destroying marriages and luring away their husbands and sons. They expressed frustration over what they described as the growing influence of sex work in the community, saying it was damaging families and relationships.
โWe are tired. They have taken our husbands and sons,โ one of the protesters said during the demonstration.
In a colorful display, the women also complained that their husbands no longer give them adequate attention because of the influence of the sex workers.
The protest has sparked mixed reactions online. While some social media users backed the womenโs concerns, others argued that men should be held accountable for their own choices.
As of the time of reporting, the Enugu State Government and security agencies have not issued any official statement on the protest.
