Manchester United have entered the race to sign Ferdi Kadioglu and have reportedly submitted a formal offer to Fenerbahce for the versatile Turkey international, according to Turkish outlet Sporx.
The Red Devils are said to have put forward a proposal worth more than the bid already lodged by Brighton & Hove Albion as both Premier League sides chase the 24-year-old in the summer window.
Kadioglu’s value has risen sharply since he joined Fenerbahce from NEC Nijmegen in July 2018. Born in Arnhem, the Dutch-born player came through the Netherlands youth system before switching allegiance to Turkey at senior level.
He has featured more than 200 times for the Istanbul club, scoring 18 goals and providing 22 assists. A key reason for the interest is his flexibility — he can operate as a full-back on either side and also play as a defensive midfielder. That profile has drawn attention from several top European teams.
The Premier League has been heavily linked with Kadioglu, with Arsenal and Tottenham previously mentioned in reports. But the current battle appears to be between United and Brighton.
United’s need is clear. Although Noussair Mazraoui was brought in for his versatility, the club still lacks a specialist left-back. Tyrell Malacia faces the prospect of missing another campaign due to injury, while Luke Shaw’s fitness issues continue to persist. Kadioglu fits the bill as cover and competition in that area.
With United’s offer now said to eclipse Brighton’s, it remains to be seen whether the Old Trafford club can see off their league rivals and secure the Fenerbahce utility man.
The club has not commented officially on the bid. Further updates are expected as negotiations progress.
