Abuja, June 2026 โ The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, has been honoured with the 2026 Humanitarian and Service Award by the Laity Council of All Saints Catholic Church, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.
The award, presented during a special ceremony at the church premises, recognized her outstanding contributions to humanity and her exemplary service in the journalism profession.
Though Comrade Ike was unavoidably absent, the honour was received on her behalf by the Auditor of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Rosemary Ukpe.
Speaking after receiving the award, Comrade Ike expressed gratitude to God for the recognition. She dedicated the award to God and to members of the NUJ FCT Council, describing it as a call to serve more selflessly.
โThis is not just an award; it is an invitation to do more for humanity and to uphold the values of truth, integrity, and service in journalism,โ she said.
She also thanked the Laity Council of All Saints Catholic Church for the recognition, promising to continue advancing the cause of journalism and humanitarian service with humility and dedication.
The award adds to the growing list of accolades conferred on the veteran journalist for her professional excellence and commitment to community service.
