Ibadan, June 5 2026 – Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho, says he knows the identities of politicians allegedly backing the kidnappers behind recent school abductions in Oyo State. He warned he will expose them publicly if the attacks continue.
Igboho made the claim on Wednesday while hosting newly elected NANS executives led by Akinteye Babatunde at his Soka residence in Ibadan.
The warning comes amid rising tension after gunmen abducted pupils and teachers from three schools in Oriire LGA on May 15 — Baptist Nursery & Primary School Yawota, Community Grammar School Esiele, and L.A. Primary School.
“I know the politicians behind them. They’re the ones giving them ammunition and money,” Igboho said. “If they don’t stop this evil, I will mention all their names.”
He also revealed he offered to help rescue the victims but was advised by authorities to hold back, warning that a forceful raid could endanger the captives.
Igboho argued that bandits hiding in South-West forests could be flushed out if local security groups like his proposed Iru Ekun Security Network were allowed to act more aggressively.
“If I’m permitted to storm their hideouts, they will flee. They’re humans and can be chased out,” he said, adding that his push is driven by concern for the victims’ families.
He further alleged that the worsening insecurity is part of a plot by political actors to make President Bola Tinubu’s government look ungovernable, the same way they did to ex-President Jonathan.
“The same thing they did to Jonathan is what they are doing to Tinubu,” he claimed.
Igboho said he already got federal approval for Iru Ekun Security Network but is facing restrictions at the state level. He insists community-based security will help end kidnappings in forest corridors around Old Oyo National Park.
Public anger spiked after one abducted teacher, Michael Oyedokun, was reportedly killed by his captors. Security agencies have since launched operations in forest areas searching for the abductors.
As of press time, the Oyo State Government and security agencies have not responded to Igboho’s allegations. His claims remain unverified.
